The Executive Director, Transaction Manager will be responsible for cross-functional project teams that develop large and complex  reinsurance and financing transactions within GFS’ mandate in North America.  Complete transactions that meet the needs of our clients while maximizing value to RGA and complying with pricing, risk, accounting, tax, legal, and other internal guidelines. (The expected net income of a single transaction typically exceeds $1 million/year.)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a project team of professionals of varying levels (including business development, pricing, investments, legal, and other corporate partners as needed) to structure and complete highly complex financially-motivated reinsurance transactions in North America.  Provide a point of leadership as well as coordinate a collaborative effort to develop optimal solutions to meet client objectives.
  • Coordinate the processes of analyzing transactions through interaction with the various technical experts in pricing, risk analysis, structured finance, accounting, legal, investments, tax, etc.  Anticipate, identify and resolve issues that arise during the RGA transaction analysis process to maximize the chance of a successful outcome. Work with the project team to identify any issues related to the transaction and coordinate with the appropriate technical experts to make sure these issues get properly resolved in a timely manner to maximize the chance of success.  Note that this position does not need to have all of the technical expertise to analyze a transaction and resolve every issue but must have enough of an understanding of the transaction, the issue and the organization to coordinate an appropriate response to resolve issues and successfully complete a transaction.
  • Provide regular communication of the status of a transaction and key outstanding issues, deadlines, challenges, etc. to interested stakeholders including Corporate partners, GFS and other RGA senior management.  Apply project management tools and processes as needed to efficiently accomplish a successful outcome.
  • Work closely with GFS business development colleagues to facilitate the sales and negotiation process with the client.  This involves regular client contact and may involve periodic travel with business developers, as required.
  • Coordinate any necessary approvals to complete a transaction and ensure communication channels are open internally and externally.  This may either be done directly or in conjunction with the support of a Transaction Facilitator.
  • Coordinate implementation with the GFS Risk Management team and provide for ongoing support of GFS reinsurance transactions, as is necessary.
